A thalattu is a lullaby. Knowing the form helps us hear the selected lines with a suitable sense of tenderness, rather than treating them as a factual inventory or an instruction. A musical performance can add another layer, provided its performer and source are identified.
For a first reading, choose one image and ask what it contributes to the mood. Does it suggest beauty, courage, affection or familiarity? The poem gives the image; a reader’s response gives the beginning of a personal reflection, which can be kept in the Storybook without claiming it as the author’s own explanation.
