Adi Shankara · attributed hymn

ஆதிசங்கரர்
An attributed hymn deserves both a listening ear and a clear source note.
Subrahmanya Bhujangam is traditionally attributed to Adi Shankara and associated with Tiruchendur. The hymn praises the peacock-riding son of Shiva and turns to him in prayer.
Its images offer a way to explore refuge, praise and the presence of the divine in the heart. Our explanation should keep the Sanskrit text, its traditional attribution and later accounts of its composition distinct.
